Belinda-Kisiwaa Adefope is currently a Senior Director of Instruction, AP for All Initiative with the New York City Department of Education. Belinda-Kisiwaa has worked in the field of education for over a decade as a classroom teacher, an instructional coach, regional professional development specialist, adjunct instructor, and full time administrator. In her school-based teaching career, Belinda-Kisiwaa taught mathematics to students with learning disabilities in a self-contained learning environment. She received a PhD in Urban Education from the City University of New York (CUNY), Graduate Center, a B.A. in Sociology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo, and a M.S. in Childhood Education with honors(Special Education) from Mercy College. Her research interests include: equity and access, using video as professional learning tool to support collaborative teacher teams; social, cultural, and historical understandings of disability and inclusive education.
