#  Decardra L. Jackson

Dr. Decardra Jackson serves as the Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability for Petersburg City Public Schools, where she leads division-wide efforts to strengthen data-informed decision-making, assessment systems, accountability structures, and school improvement initiatives.

Dr. Jackson brings extensive experience across K–12 education, higher education, and research. Her previous leadership roles include serving as Director of Assessment Literacy and Research for Richmond Public Schools (RPS) in Virginia and Director of Science Education for the Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement (VISTA) program at George Mason University. She also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Richmond, School of Professional and Continuing Studies, where she taught graduate-level coursework for aspiring school leaders, including Data for Decision Making. Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant Principal, Coordinator of Assessment and Remediation and a middle school science teacher.

Dr. Jackson earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (School Counseling) from Virginia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also completed a Post-Master’s Certification in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Her professional interests center on equity and access to higher education, STEM and gifted education, out-of-school time and mentoring programs, and education policy.

In addition to her professional roles, Dr. Jackson has demonstrated sustained community leadership, serving for more than six years as Co-Chair of the Educational Development committee for the Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she supports initiatives focused on educational access, advocacy, and student achievement.
