Derrick Holifield is an accomplished educator and leader dedicated to fostering excellence and equity in education. While earning a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Harvard University, Derrick combines academic expertise with practical experience gained from his extensive tenure in various roles within the education sector. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Cleveland State University, where he specialized in Economic Development, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in African American Studies from Ohio University. Derrick's professional journey includes serving as the Superintendent Fellow at Chelsea Public Schools, where he spearheads initiatives to enhance student success through individualized student success plans. Previously, as Principal at Kenneth W. Clement Boys Leadership Academy in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Derrick demonstrated exceptional leadership, overseeing teacher development, curriculum implementation, and community engagement efforts. Under his guidance, the school achieved remarkable improvements in student performance and received accolades for its family and community engagement initiatives. Derrick's commitment to educational excellence extends beyond his administrative roles. He has been actively involved in various community initiatives and professional development programs. As a teacher at Cleveland School of the Arts High School, Derrick implemented innovative strategies to support student success and coordinated impactful community service projects. His dedication to serving diverse student populations is evident in his work as the Head Instructor for summer programming at The Friendly Inn, where he facilitated enriching learning experiences for underserved youth. Throughout his career, Derrick has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to education and community leadership. He has received prestigious awards such as the Outstanding Educator Award from 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Crains 20 in their 20s, and the Future History Maker Award from Radio-One. Derrick is also a sought-after presenter and guest lecturer, sharing his expertise on topics ranging from antiracism in education to effective leadership strategies.
