Deirdra Joyner is the deputy superintendent and chief academic officer of the Christina School District in Wilmington, Delaware. She first learned of the Data Wise Improvement Process during the summer of 2010, when she brought her leadership team from Leasure Elementary School to HGSE for the week-long institute. As the former principal of Leasure, Joyner found that concerns about student achievement and questions about how to use data wisely were burning issues for her school team. She now partners with other school leaders who share these same dilemmas.

Joyner holds an Ed.D. in Education Leadership from the University of Delaware. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on the Data Wise work she led at Leasure Elementary School, which is also featured in Introduction to Data Wise: A Collaborative Process to Improve Learning & Teaching.
