David Baiz

David Baiz is a doctoral student at Harvard Graduate School of Education's Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) program. Prior to this, David was a founding teacher and eventual principal of Global Tech Prep Middle School in East Harlem, NY. There, David worked alongside a small team of talented educators to build from the ground up a school culture focused on high expectations for all students and socio-emotional supports to help students uncover their own strengths as learners. After more than a decade of experience in public education, David believes that talent and leadership, both in children and adults, are not innate qualities, but are instead cultivated through supportive, feedback-driven environments where all members feel empowered to take risks, learn from mistakes, and cheer on each others' successes. He currently resides in Cambridge, MA with his husband Michael and their son Reese.
