Johanna Barmore

Dr. Johanna Barmore is a School Improvement Facilitator at WestEd. She is responsible for providing coaching and consulting to schools, districts, and state departments of education around school improvement, mathematics instruction, standards-based curriculum, data-driven inquiry, professional learning communities (PLCs), professional learning standards and curriculum adoption processes. Early in her career, Johanna taught high school and middle school mathematics at an independent school in New York City and served as the mathematics curriculum coordinator at a charter school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where her research focused on how teachers learn to improve instruction through collaborative data-inquiry. Johanna also holds an Ed.M. in school leadership from HGSE, an M.A. in secondary mathematics education from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a B. A. in mathematics from Tufts University.
