Michael Barry

Hello, I am Michael Barry. My journey into education began as a parent navigating the IEP process of a preschooler. What I discovered was that despite the kindness and good intentions of my son’s teachers, the education system is often not well suited to serve students who are different and have different needs. It was that experience that led to my course change to teaching, so that I could work to fight for students, who like my son, needed someone to see that they could succeed and to meet them where they were to ensure that they did. For the past seven years I’ve worked as an instructional and data coach at the Alexander B. Bruce School in Lawrence, MA. I am passionate about doing the work of continuous improvement- identifying areas for growth and following the evidence to meaningful, lasting change.
