Ebony Cross Shields

EbonyCrossShieldsEbony Love Shields received her undergraduate degree in 1997 from South Carolina State University where she graduated with honors as an Early Childhood Education Major. Upon graduation she began her career with Prince George’s County Public School System, where she has taught grades ranging from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. Ebony furthered her educational career by receiving her Master’s Degree from Western Maryland College. She has also worked as a Professional Developer for Achievement First in Baltimore, MD. Ebony then served as a Reading Specialist at which time she became the Teacher of the Year for Prince George’s County Public School System. She is a proud member of New Leaders for New Schools Maryland Cohort 9. She then served as the principal of General James Gholson Middle School, which was one of the Turnaround Schools identified under President Obama’s educational reform act, for 4 years. For the past 4 years Ebony Shields has served as an Improvement Specialist in the Office of Continuous Improvement since its inception leading the learning of schools and central offices as they use Data Wise as their systemic improvement process. Ebony is is a certified Arbinger facilitator and a certified Gallup StrengthsFinder’s Coach.
