Portia M. Slaughter

Portia Slaughter became the the new principal of Rowland Academy on February 1, 2021. Mrs. Slaughter is an outstanding educator with more than twenty years of experience in the field of education. Mrs. Slaughter has proven experience leading positive growth and achievement within school systems and has previously served as a teacher,transformation specialist, principal, district leader and most recently worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and as a State Lead for K-12 School Improvement. Mrs. Slaughter’s instructional leadership experience has helped to guide teaching and learning for scholars, teachers, and fellow educators. She is passionate about working with families and communities to support scholar growth and development, and building school partnerships.
