Shelly Burr - Data Wise Certified Coach

Shelly Burr, Ed.D. is a Training and Consultation Coordinator at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. In this role, she focuses on supporting school districts with the implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports, specifically in mathematics. Shelly earned her undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation from The Pennsylvania State University and worked with children with physical disabilities in a pediatric rehabilitation hospital setting. Although she loved this work, she decided that her true passion was in educating young people, so she earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh.

Shelly taught in a private school prior to moving to Memphis, Tennessee in grades K-6. Once in Memphis, she taught at an elementary laboratory school that utilized the latest research into the education of the students. During this time in Memphis, Shelly earned her doctorate in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership. After moving back to Pittsburgh, she worked as a Mathematics Curriculum Leader with a public school district, while also teaching fourth grade. She has worked at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for over three years and loves working with various stakeholders to help in making learning fun, engaging, equitable, and rigorous for all learners.
