Ava Tasker-Mitchell

AvaTasker-MitchellAva Tasker-Mitchell is an Instructional Director/Assistant Superintendent of Schools in the Prince George’s County Public School System. In this position, she coaches and supervises a cluster of fourteen schools. Previously, Mrs. Tasker-Mitchell held positions in three other school districts as an Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Baltimore City, an Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, a principal, assistant principal, department head and teacher in Anne Arundel and Talbot counties. During her time in Talbot County, Mrs. Tasker-Mitchell was named County Teacher of the Year and received a nomination for the Sallie Mae State Teacher of the Year Award. While in Anne Arundel County, Mrs. Tasker-Mitchell was named the Western District’s principal of the year in 2009-2010, by her school-based P.T.A, in conjunction with the county’s P.T.A. She is a certified Doug Reeves, Ruby Payne and NISL coach/trainer and has attended Harvard’s PELP Leadership program. She has presented at National Conferences about topics connected to Character Education and Leadership. Finally, she received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
