Born in Albania, she immigrated to US in 2000. Elvis started her teaching career in Hartford as a classroom teacher,at Law & Government Academy, Hartford Public School, before taking on a new role 7 years ago as an English Learner(EL) District coach. She has been part of many curriculum writings and facilitated many Professional Learning Communities (PLC), in addition to district and school based professional learning. Her goal is to build teachers' capacity around best practices for EL, making sure that we meet their academic and linguistic needs. During these years as an educator, she has presented in several conferences, such NY TESOL conference, CT STEM conference, and International STEM conference in Beijing, China focusing on EL and the implications of Second Language Acquisition in instruction.
She has a BA in Language Arts (secondary) and World Language from University of Tirana, Albania, MS in TESOL, and a 6th Year in Educational Leadership, both from CCSU.
