Justin Taylor

JustinTaylorJustin Taylor currently serves as the Assistant Principal of the Freshman Academy at Hartford Public High School. He began his career in education at Bulkeley High School in Hartford, CT in 2009. After nine years of teaching at Bulkeley, he transitioned to a position in Hartford’s central office, where he led efforts to build teacher and administrator capacity for student-centered learning through professional development and job-embedded instructional coaching. In 2019, he took on the role of Assistant Director of Educational Innovation. In this role, he co-lead design efforts with Hartford’s three comprehensive high schools, worked with others on developing alternative educational programming for overage, under-credited students, and worked alongside central office staff, school leaders, and teachers to develop Hartford’s Instructional Vision and Portrait of a Graduate. He is the 2014 Hartford Public Schools Teacher of the Year and a 2015 finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year. Justin holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Vassar College, and earned his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
