I attended the Data Wise Institute as a participant with the Windermere Primary School (WPS) leadership team from Hobart, Tasmania in January 2019. Our key objective was to develop a deeper understanding of the Data Wise Improvement Process so that I could lead this important work with the school Principal, Duncan Groves who’d studied the Data Wise Improvement Process in 2015. For the next two years in my role as both Assistant Principal and Acting Principal, I played a vital role in leading Windermere staff through multiple improvement cycles, which saw me move from being an active participant to a mentor for the leadership team.
In January 2020, I attended the Australia Data Wise Institute as a Teaching Fellow. It was at this Institute that I deepened my understanding of the Data Wise Improvement Process through opportunities to coach several primary schools from Southern Tasmania.
In moving forward, I hope to continue to strengthen the Data Wise Improvement process at WPS and look to further work with other schools to implement this important process in Southern Tasmania.
