Kris Comeforo

Kristofer Comeforo has spent his career as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Washington, DC Public Schools. In the classroom, Comeforo was a standout teacher, recognized as a Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the Rubenstein Award for Highly Effective Teaching. As a school leader, he led his campus to unprecedented academic achievement while also making tremendous progress in closing achievement gaps among all subgroups of students. Under his leadership, student, staff, and family satisfaction skyrocketed, causing high demand for enrollment and among the highest student and staff retention in the city. He was invited to speak on national panels for reimagining student engagement in public schools, including at SXSW EDU and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Additionally, Comeforo served as the co-chair of the 9th Grade Counts Network, an arm of Raise DC, a collective impact initiative that supports success from birth through college and into career throughout all eight wards of the District of Columbia. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Boston College. Above all else, Kristofer Comeforo unabashedly believes that all students can achieve excellent academic outcomes with appropriate and equitable support.
